Watch Hill:
Watch Hill is an exclusive area featuring a seasonal village setting of estates, shops and restaurants. It boasts the oldest operating carousel in North America. There are private beach, yacht and golf clubs available. The Watch Hill Fire District owns several miles of private beach including Napatree Point. The views from the Watch Hill Community are spectacular from both the (B.I.) Sound and Little Narragansett Bay sides.
Misquamicut:
Misquamicut provides a variety of activities for both the property owners and the public as well. The Misquamicut Fire District provides four private beach areas to its members. Westerly Town and Misquamicut State Beaches are located on Atlantic Avenue which also provides all sorts of activities from amusements, restaurants to night life. Many oceanfront homes are found along Atlantic Avenue.
Weekapaug:
Weekapaug is also a graceful summer community. The Weekapaug Fire District features both private oceanfront and salt pond access. Two miles of undisturbed barrier beach extends beyond the Weekapaug Beach providing solitude and natural beauty for all seasons. Private yacht club and tennis club facilities are available. Three golf clubs are nearby.
Shelter Harbor:
Once a music colony, this tranquil community is located along the northern shore of the Quonochontaug salt pond. Private mooring and boat access is located at two areas within the community, as well as tennis, and a supervised childrens' beach at Grove Dock. A shore drive to Weekapaug provides private beach rights for Shelter Harbor residents.
Shady Harbor:
Shady Harbor is located just east of Shelter Harbor on the north side of "Quonnie" Pond. It also provides private boating access and private beach privileges at Weekapaug Beach.
Quonochontaug:
Quonnie is the oceanfront community located between Quonochontaug Pond to the west and Ninigret Pond to the east. There are three recognized areas within Quonnie: West Beach, Central Beach and East Beach, each with three different amenities.
West Beach is a small area located immediately east of the Quonochontaug Breachway. Many of the homes are located along the breachway, which is a man-made channel connecting the Salt Pond with the ocean. It features a small private beach and tennis courts.
Central Beach Fire District is located in the middle of Quonnie. It is thickly settled with some lovely homes. CBFD provides a short walk to a private beach, tennis courts and community ballfield. Central Beach also maintains a boating access on Quonnie Pond with moorings out front.
The Quonochontaug East Beach Association (QEBA) owns one of the longest private beachfronts in southern Rhode Island. Its beautiful sand dunes provide a special setting for beach life. QEBA members also share access to both Quonnie and Ninigret Ponds through various right-of-ways.
Membership in CBFD or QEBA entitles owners to join both the Quonnie yacht club and tennis club. Many joint tennis and golf leagues add to the camaraderie.
Arnolda:
Arnolda is a secluded spot located along the northern shore of Ninigret Pond, adjacent to Ninigret National Wildlife Refuge and Ninigret Park. Many coves and steep land contours provide privacy and desirable boat access. Arnolda has beachfront property snuggled inside Ninigret Conservation Area. It is only accessible by boat and gives the feeling of a secluded island.
Several neighborhoods along the southern shores of Ninigret Pond provide boating access. Fort Neck, Tockwotten, Southern Way and Pond Shores all provide docks with a short drive to the Charlestown Town Beach.
Charlestown Beach:
This is a strip of barrier beach providing public access by both the town beach and the Charlestown Breachway facility operated by the state. There are many oceanfront homes along the strip. The state breachway facility, a prime shore fishing area, provides beach access, launching ramp and accomodations for recreational vehicles.
Green Hill:
Green Hill, in South Kingstown, provides a neighborhood setting with private beach access, tennis and boat access to Green Hill Pond.
Matunuck:
Matunuck is home to Theater-By-The-Sea, a summer stock theater loved by generations of Rhode Island residents and visitors alike. It is bordered by the Trustom Wildlife Refuge on one side and Potter Pond on the other. Matunuck provides a variety of summer settings. Beaches are public, both South Kingstown Town Beach and East Matunuck State Beach. Fishing and surfing is exceptional at Deep Hole. Two local clubs have provided night life for generations of young people.
Point Judith Area:
Many seaside communities dot the shores along Point Judith Pond including Jerusalem, Snug Harbor, Jerry Brown Farm, Harbor Island and Great Island. Full marine services are provided for both commercial and recreational boaters, including pump-outs. Many restaurants both on the Galilee and Jerusalem side provide a variety of seafood venues. The ferry to Block Island leaves hourly and a fleet of sight seeing and fishing charter boats are available.
